Why choose an engagement session?

Proposal - Check!

Said YES - Check!

Set the date - Check!

Planning - In Progress...

And the list goes on and on. Planning a wedding can become a bit stressful with all the choices, opinions, advice, and of course the budget. Honestly, it sometimes amazes me how anyone even does it all! While I can't plan your wedding, I can help with a few areas. Mainly, of course, photography. Now you may have booked me or you may have booked someone else and kudos to you for crossing one more item off your list! Depending on your to-do list and timeframe, you may say to yourself, that you don't have time to fit another thing in, and engagement photos aren't really that necessary so you're thinking about skipping on them.

Can I give you an alternate viewpoint? Just a few minutes of your time?

While I get that taking photos might not be your thing (and hey this is coming from a girl that when I was engaged I literally cried thinking about getting my photos taken, and no not from sentimental happy reasons, they were stress induced as I was painfully shy). I want to make this fun for you! You two have dated and now engaged and soon to be married. How long did you call each other boyfriend and girlfriend? And you'll have the rest of your lives together to call each other husband and wife! Now how long do you have to call one another fiancé? In the grand scheme, not very long. This is a sweet time that many couples rush through but let's take a moment to celebrate this moment! Along with wedding planning, I recommend dating and having fun together and capturing this love of yours photographically. Benefits of an engagement session include going on a date with your own private paparazzi! We can go to a restaurant, a bar, a cozy campfire, or even go to a bookstore, to make this really feel like a date where we capture genuine moments together. Also, this is a chance for you to get to know your photographer and for your photographer to get to know you. Once you've spent time together, it makes the wedding day feel less stressful because you know how to pose and interact together! I love getting to know my clients well before their wedding day so that it feels like we're good friends!

Thanks for hearing me out, and yes I'll always advocate photography so I'm biased, but these moments are worth capturing for you and your future spouse to look at years to come!
